BEFORE YOU GET TATTOOED
One week prior to your tattoo it is helpful to moisturize the area to be tattooed. Daily moisturizing can greatly improve the quality of your skin.
Before your tattoo or piercing appointment sure to eat and drink something. If you have intense anxiety about your tattoo, your body can have physical response causing a blood sugar drop. This is relatively common and eating beforehand and/or bringing a soda or sugary beverage to your appointment can help prevent lightheadedness. Everyone should eat before getting tattooed, even if they have never experienced lightheadedness or fainting before.
Do not consume alcohol 12 hours before your appointment. Alcohol is a blood thinner and may make you bleed, sometimes excessively, which may inhibit the ink from staying in the skin as well as making it difficult for the tattoo artist to effectively tattoo. Alcohol also impairs judgment.
Please have the area to be pierced or tattooed clean and shaved.
Don’t forget to bring a government issued photo ID, such as a driver’s license or passport.
Don't be late. It’s best to show up a few minutes before your scheduled appointment. If you are going to be late you should definitely call ahead and let your artist know. If you are late you run the risk of forfeiting your deposit and losing out on your appointment.
GETTING TATTOOED OVER AGE 60
The folks at Elite Tattoo are well versed in all types of skin and are absolutly happy to make your tattoo dreams a reality, however as we age our skin naturally age thinner and less elastic. Before your appointment, for the best possible results, moisturize your skin daily for a week prior to your tattoo, If you are on blood thinners, talk to your doctor about going off of them in the week leading up to your tattoo. Excessive bleeding can wash the ink out of the skin as we tattoo and lead to a less than optimal tattoo. A vitamin K supplement might be a good idea to help your blood to clot faster. also a collagen supplement will help keep your skin thicker and more elastic.
GETTING TATTOOED UNDER AGE 25
The folks at Elite Tattoo are well versed in all types of skin and are absolutly happy to make your tattoo dreams a reality, however, tattoos age with us and naturally the ink will spread out a bit under the skin. For this reason, we do not recommend very small or complex designs for younger people. Even a well done 20 year old tattoo is going to look like a 20 year old tattoo. Do your research on how tattoos age and think hard about the design you want. A side note, although tattoos have become very mainstream, there are some placements that are highly discouraged for young individuals. HANDS, NECK AND FACE, in the industry we call these "career killers" because many places will not hire an individual with tattoos in these areas. You will be limiting your future opportunities if you get tattoos in these locations.
